Dennis R. Wojciak Obituary | Star Tribune

Wojciak, Dennis R. 89, of Highland, NY, peacefully passed away on December 12, 2022, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was born on March 18th, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Andrew and Anna Wojciak. He married Mary Jean Tachney May 1961 in Urbana, Illinois. She predeceased him in March 2005. Dennis graduated from Vocational High school in Minneapolis. He worked for the railroad before joining the US Army in 1953 where he was stationed in Europe. With an honorable discharge, he went to electronics tech school and hired on with Boeing Corporation. This led Dennis to find his passion for designing and debugging electronics within computer systems. After several years, he joined IBM Corporation working on avionics for Apollo space missions and Skylab. Eventually transferring to commercial computer development, he finished his career as an expert diagnostician for the most perplexing computer system problems. Upon marriage, Dennis and Mary Jean moved to Seattle where they established lifelong friendships and a lasting connection with the northwest countryside. Dennis’s work took them to New Orleans, where they had their only son Paul. Their careers carried them to Huntsville, Alabama and then to Vestal, New York where they raised a family and flourished together. Upon retirement, Dennis and Mary Jean moved to Marysville, Washington where they reestablished their northwest connection and lived out their dream together. Eventually, Dennis relocated to Highland, NY to be near his son and family. Throughout his life, Dennis was empathetic and always thought the best of folks he met. Having become an aficionado of solving math related puzzles, he particularly enjoyed the challenges of Sum-Do-Ku and Numbrix but Su-Do-Ku, KenKen, and for a change of pace the daily word Jumble, were all in regular rotation. He would while away the hours doing his puzzle books. He offered puzzles to those who inquired about his pastime, thinking, if he enjoyed them, everyone would too. Dennis is survived by his son Paul A. (Melissa) Wojciak of Poughkeepsie, NY and grandchildren Mikayli and Owen. In addition to his parents and wife, Dennis is predeceased by his sisters Katherine Wojciak and Julia Drabczek Funeral Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Condolences: doylefuneralhome.com
