Northbound US 131 closed near Rockford after 13K gallons of fuel spill

KENT COUNTY, MI – Northbound US 131 is closed Tuesday, Jan. 24, after 10 Mile Road after a tanker rolled over and spilled about 13,000 gallons of fuel, state police said.

Police expect the northbound lanes to be closed for several hours while crews clean up contaminated soil.

The crash happened just before 2 at near 12 Mile Road. The driver suffered only minor injuries.

Traffic is being diverted at 10 Miles.

The state Department of Transportation provided a detour route: Take exit 97 and turn left on 10 Mile, then turn right on Algoma to go north. Turn right on 13 Mile Road, left on Edgerton Avenue, right on 14 Mile Road then left onto the northbound US 131 entrance ramp.
