A Rockford woman was hospitalized and is in grave but stable condition following a three car accident on Sunday night in Georgetown township.
Shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s office responded to a three-car accident at the intersection of Chicago Drive and Cottonwood Drive. A preliminary investigation by MPs revealed that a 50-year-old Rockford woman was driving west on Chicago Drive and ran a red light in a Hyundai Tucson at the Cottonwood Drive intersection. The Hyundai collided with a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder that was driven by a 42-year-old Jenison woman who was driving south on Cottonwood. The Hyundai then also hit a 2007 Mercedes ML63 driven by a 43-year-old man from Coopersville who was driving north on Cottonwood Drive. Both the Nissan and the Mercedes got the green light.
The driver of the Hyundai had to be taken out of the car by the Georgetown Township Fire and transported to Butterworth Hospital in serious but stable condition. The driver of the Nissan was not seriously injured and had to receive medical care herself.
The driver who was hospitalized was also quoted for her traffic violation, according to the sheriff’s office. The Georgetown Township Fire Department and Life Ambulance supported the local Ottawa County Sheriff’s office
