Gulfport, Mississippi – Sandra “Sandie” Allison Dunn passed away gently and peacefully on October 7, 2021 in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Sandie was born in Peoria, Illinois, to Lt. Col. Donald F. (USAF) and Shirley J. Allison. Growing up as a military child, Sandie lived in many places and attended schools from California to Maine and Bermuda. Sandie graduated from Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Georgia.
Sandie lived in Augusta, Maine, where she raised her two sons, Todd and Chad. She had a successful career with Maine Central Power Company and worked in various departments for many years. After her retirement, she moved to Navarre, Florida to be close to her family. Always hardworking and productive, Sandie became an office manager for Ferries and Ferry Law Firm in Pensacola who enjoys and loves her new job and her 3 grandchildren. She moved again to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and assumed responsibility as the manager of the Home Owner’s Association for the Villas at Legacy Condominium Community in Gulfport, Mississippi, where over 11 years she made many wonderful friends, resolved numerous management issues, and improved the association’s financial position and experienced many memorable moments. In all of her work and throughout her career, Sandie has had a reputation for being honest, direct, fair, reliable, and “the one who never broke the rules.” She valued and demonstrated undeniable integrity, saying, “Integrity is what you do when nobody is watching.”
Sandie was a master of crochet hooks and made tons of beautiful comforters for friends and family. Sandie was also an avid reader and was rarely without her tablet. She loved John Grisham, read all of his works, and completed his and other favorite authors in one sitting! She loved kayaking the many lakes and rivers in Maine, could tirelessly and effortlessly water-ski, and climbed Mount Katahdin for a true “five boat” experience. Most of all, Sandie loved her family. All her life, she traveled for miles to see her children or grandchildren attending or participating in sporting events or the performing arts, regardless of time or distance. Sandie also enjoyed traveling and spending many vacations with friends and family in Texas, Colorado, and Nevada. Sandie was a true friend to many and loved the time she shared with each of them. She will be very missed by everyone to whom she meant so much.
Sandie preceded her grandmother, Mrs. DW Allison, in death; her parents, Lt. Col. Donald F. Allison and Shirley J. Allison; your trouble, SSG. (retired) Donald R. Allison, USA; her nephew Garrett D. Batron; and her favorite uncle, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Herbert Allison, USAF.
Sandie leaves behind her sons Chad Dunn and spouse G. Wall from Kissimmee, FL, Todd Dunn and daughter-in-law Stacy Dunn, and their children Lexie, Zachary and Kylie from Ocean Springs, MS; her sister Linda A. Batron and her brother-in-law LTC (Ret) Arthur D. Batron of Gulfport, MS; her sister Patti Allison of Fort Walton Beach, FL; her brother David Allison of Navarre, FL; her niece Allison. B. Allen and her husband MAJ (Ret) Robert Allen and their children Aileen and Lyres from Evansville, IN and niece Katie Mae Allison from Fort Walton Beach, FL.
A celebration of life for Sandie will be announced and carried out at a later date.
The Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs is honored to serve Sandra Dunn’s family.
