ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Shoppers flocked to Forest Plaza in Rockford Wednesday afternoon for last-minute Christmas gifts. Last-minute shoppers rushed to the stores to get gifts that couldn’t be ordered online in time for a Christmas delivery.
Cultureshock owner Skyler Davis says his business is experiencing a business boom unlike anything he has seen in its 15 years of existence.
“We’ve definitely had a huge surge in people,” said Davis. “Some people actually start their Christmas shopping, but a lot at the last minute and lots of extra gifts and probably one of our greatest weekends ever.”
Rockford is actually seeing more local people shopping eager to find homemade gifts for family and friends.
“So many people want Rockford and the Winnebago County region to be unique. And shopping locally is one way we can help the companies that don’t make us a cookie cutter place, ”said Lauren Vanags, local president of the Winnebago County Shop.
According to a KLARNA study from 2020, 79% of vacation shoppers leave their shop until the last minute. Favorite last minute gift from these shoppers? Jewellery.
