Theresa Scalise Obituary (1956 – 2022) – Rockford, IL

Theresa Scalise, 66, a life-long resident of Rockford, passed away unexpectedly at 5:45 am on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Swedish American Hospital. Theresa was born on April 1, 1956, the daughter of Alex and Frances Scalise.
Surviving is her sister, Mary Ellen (Scalise) Nash, many cousins, four nephews and great aunt to six beautiful and talented great-nieces and great-nephews of whom she was extremely proud.
She attended East High School and graduated in June 1974. She continued a caring and loving friendship with two fellow graduates, Linette Hultman and Jan Johnson until her death. After graduation, Theresa worked at several different insurance companies in the local area and was responsible for processing claims. She worked for Swedish American Hospital in the collections department and two different radiologists’ groups before her retirement. She was a parishioner of Saint James Parish, Rockford and frequently attended mass with her Dad and Mom.
Theresa was an avid collector of any thing that had a teddy bear on it, from stuffed teddy bears for each season of the year, to towels with teddy bear images. She also had a collection of Beanie Babies which she purchased throughout her life.
Theresa’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff in the Swedish American Emergency Room and especially the Critical Care Unit (CCU) for the wonderful and compassionate care given to her in the final days of her life.
Private services will be held for family and friends at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. Final resting place will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be used toward Theresa’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
