Thomas J. Sampson, 64 of Earlville passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 3,2022 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Service
will be at 3pm on Saturday August 27,2022 at the Triumph Community Center located at 3907 E 752nd Road Triumph. Refreshments and Fellowship will follow until 5pm.
Casual dress is preferred, and storytelling encouraged. Tom enjoyed a good story, and his mischievous smile could light up a room.
Tom was born March 6,1958 in Ottawa to Myron and Lois R. (Madden) Sampson. He graduated Mendota High School in 1976 and went on to receive his Associates Degree
from IVCC. Tom married Gloria Preibis on September 8,1995 in Sycamore. Raised on the family farm he was always involved in farming. Tom would drive the horses in the Horse and Carriage business for local festivals, weddings and city rides in Chicago. He worked with the Illinois Tollway, IDOT and many years with Del Monte. Recent years found him working the family farm plant to harvest and helping his wife Gloria with their Alpaca herd and shop. He was a member of the Illinois Valley Horseman’s Association, Waltham Curling Club, Mendota Moose and was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus.
Tom is survived by his wife Gloria of Earlville, son Cole Sampson of Chicago, sister Sheila Sampson of Oswego, and brother Dan (Amy) Sampson of Triumph. He is preceded in death by his parents and Aunt Pat Janz. Memorials may be directed to the family to be used for a scholarship at Mendota High Schools Ag Dept. in Tom’s name.
