THURSDAY: Bustos Joins Peoria, Rockford, Eagle View Leaders to Announce Federal Funding for Local Health Projects

WASHINGTON — THURSDAY, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) will join Peoria, Rockford and Eagle View healthcare leaders to announce funding for local health projects. The funding was awarded through a program made possible by Fiscal Year 2022 Federal Appropriations secured by Congresswoman Bustos and formed based on her Social Determinants of Health Accelerator Act.

In 2020, Congresswoman Bustos secured a first-of-its-kind pilot program, modeled after her Social Determinants of Health Accelerator Act, as part of a year-end spending bill. Now in its second year, this program is helping state and local governments and community-based organizations empower their communities to strategically fight in tandem the social factors that harm long-term health, such as health care provider shortages, food deserts, unsafe and insecure housing and other environmental factors.
