URBANA – The National Weather Service in Central Illinois is forecasting heavy rains and severe storms, including possible tornadoes, late Sunday.

Because of the predicted weather, a Flash Flood Watch has been issued for portions of Central Illinois from Sunday 1:00 am to Monday 7:00 am Springfield, Decatur, and Mattoon are included in the watch area. However, Champaign-Urbana and Danville are not included. Several inches of rain are expected to fall.

Late Sunday, meteorologists expect strong to severe storms to roll through Central Illinois. There is a 10 percent chance of a strong tornado in west Illinois, including Edwardsville. Hail and damaging winds are also expected.
