Disney on Ice: Find Your Hero

What: Disney on Ice presents “Find Your Hero,” an adventure filled with tales of heroism from your favorite Disney Stories.

When: 7 pm Thursday & Friday, 11 am, 3 pm, 7 pm Saturday, 11 am, 3 pm Sunday, 11 am Monday.

Art of the Earth: In the King’s Court

What: Learn how artists and scientists can work together to create a visual representation of a time on Earth that has never been seen before: PaleoArt. This event will demonstrate how artists interpret fossils to create a clearer picture of the life and times of the Tyrant King.

When: 11 am to 12 pm, and 1 to 2 pm Saturday

Where: Burpee Museum of Natural History, 737 N. Main St., Rockford

Cost: $15 for people 13 and older, $13 for children 4-12, $ for museum members.

What: Take a walk through time while visiting the house of a prominent Rockford family, and learn about the history of the original museum.

When: 10:30 to 11:30 am, 12 to 1 pm, 3 to 4 pm Saturday, 10:30 to 11:30 am and 12 to 1 pm Sunday.

Where: Burpee Museum of Natural History, 737 N. Main St., Rockford

Cost: $17 for people 13 and older, $15 for children 4-12, $5 for museum members.

Cocoa & Company 815 Outside Hike

What: Warm up with complimentary hot cocoa before hitting the trails. Participants will explore the prairie and Rock River Birding & Hiking Trail for a total of about two miles on mostly flat, unpaved trails.

What: KidVentures in Science are one-day classes that pack a punch of learning and fun suitable for ages 3-6. Will It Float? What makes something float vs sink? How do boats stay afloat? Learn about the science of engineering and density and make your own boats and discover what it takes for a boat to float.

RSO Candlelight Concert

What: The music of Rossini and Bach will be enhanced by the flicker of soft candlelight in this concert presented by seven featured musicians of the RSO. Chamber music opens up a whole new repertoire for RSO performances and allows the RSO to showcase musicians in an intimate way.

When: 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday

The Detour Comedy Night

Winter Concert Series: Brady Lee

What: Songwriter, performer and multi-instrumentalist Brady Lee grew up listening to Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, and Keith Urban. Lee performs pop-infused anthems that showcase his soaring vocals and smooth guitar playing.

When: 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday

Where: Prairie Street Brewing Co., 200 Prairie St., Rockford

What: Maze Books is hosting a group of local writers, poets and authors for the first live reading of the year. The event is being co-hosted by writer Emily Klonicki and musician Jon Rozman.
