The Easter season means egg hunt fun in Champaign-Urbana and beyond

Bring your children to round up eggs, smile with the Easter bunny and have a great time this spring

Easter is April 9 but there’s lots of fun and “eggs”-citing things to mark on your calendar now to do before then — like egg hunts! Grab your baskets and hop on over to some of the best Easter egg hunts in the Champaign-Urbana area and beyond.

Make sure to pay attention to whether you need to register ahead of time for some of these egg hunts and events.

We’ve also included a few other activities your family can enjoy together to make this Easter “eggstra” special.

Easter Egg Hunts

First, a few tips for egg hunts.
1. Many require advance registration. (This is true for all kinds of events, not just egg hunts.)
2. Some events have different times for different age groups. This can be hard when you have multiple kids, so plan accordingly.
3. Be on time – those eggs go quickly!
4. Don’t forget to bring your baskets, or whatever you use as a “basket.”

Easter Egg Hunt | Registration Deadline 3/7

Where: Barber Park, Mahomet
dates: 04/01/2023, Time: 9:00am – 11:00am
Join Mahomet Parks and Recreation for their Annual Egg Hunt. Children will have the opportunity to meet the Bunny and have fun with a good ole’ fashion egg hunt, find a golden egg for a special prize! For ages 0-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-10. The cost is $5 per child. Must pre-register.

Urbana Park District’s Egg Hunt with a Splash | Registration Required | Deadline 4/1

Where: Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center, Urbana
dates: 04/08/2023, Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm
Dive into the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center and collect many surprise filled eggs. Wear your suit, bring a PLASTIC bag and get ready for some ‘eggstra’ fun!

Sensory Egg Hunt | Registration Required

Where: Prairie Farm, Champaign
dates: 04/08/2023, Time: 1:00pm – 2:15pm
The hunt is on! Celebrate spring and enjoy some family fun at Prairie Farm. Hunters should bring a basket to search high and low for colorful eggs. Be prepared to explore your senses while searching for special eggs with lights, sounds, and textures. After the hunt, treats and social time will be enjoyed by all.
