Redbirds travel to Iowa City for the Larry Wieczorek Invite

NORMAL, ILL. – The Illinois State Track and Field program travels to Iowa City to compete in the Larry Wieczorek Invite at the University of Iowa in the University of Iowa Recreation Building. The meet will kick off with Friday, January 20th at 11:00 am followed by the middle-distance and distance events that evening. Saturday morning at 11:00 am, field events will resume followed by track events at 2:50.

The Redbirds are coming off an energetic weekend at home, winning their fifth-consecutive Coughlan-Malloy Cup over Indiana State.

Six student-athletes managed to be either added or moved up on the ISU all-time top-10 list. These student athletes are:

  • Seven Hicks, women’s 60-meter dash, t-second
  • Windsor Roberts, Women’s pole vault, seventh
  • Jaylin Holmes, men’s 60-meter dash, sixth
  • Brandon Ratliff, men’s 60-meter hurdle, third
  • Amiri Buchanan, Men’s weight throw, sixth
  • Joe Boyer, men’s shot put, fifth

The Redbirds had a day at the cup, as multiple student-athletes also set new personal best or season-best times or marks in their events.


Following the Larry Wieczorek Invite, the members of the Redbirds will compete at the Illini Challenge in Champaign, Illinois. Other members of the squad will travel to Louisville, Kentucky to compete at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational.
