NORTHERN ILLINOIS (WIFR) – The 42nd Annual Police Memorial Week is scheduled for May, hosted by The Northern Illinois Multi-Jurisdictional Honor Guard.
The week of fundraisers, memorials and fellowship pays tribute to fallen officers who have given the “Ultimate Sacrifice” within Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, DeKalb, Stephenson and McHenry counties. It also shows support and appreciation to local law enforcement agencies and the communities that they serve.
Police Memorial Week opens with the 6th annual Cosmic Bowl Fundraiser from 7 pm to 9 pm Saturday, May 7 at Cherry Bowl, 7171 CherryVale North Boulevard in Rockford.
A Law Enforcement Ecumenical Memorial Service will commence Wednesday, May 11 at 7 pm at Life Church, 4312 20th Street in Rockford. This memorial is open to the public as well as officers.
The week of events finalizes with three days of law enforcement displays at the CherryVale Mall including, squad cars, informational handouts and interactive opportunities.
Display times are 10 am to 8 pm Friday and Saturday, and 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday, May 15. This year’s events will also host Chief’s Day, K-9 demonstrations, bomb robot demonstration and Atwood Park Birds of Prey.
