John Hodges Obituary (1968 – 2022) – Rockford, IL

John P. Hodges, 53, of Roscoe, IL, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022. Born December 2, 1968, in Rockford, the son of Andrew David and Lelia (Booker) Hodges. Graduated from Harlem High School. John married Cindy Flanigan on September 25, 1993. He worked for Rainbo Oil for 2o years. John loved riding his Harley. He was a careful driver and wouldn’t ride until there were three rains in the spring time so no winter salt would get on the bike. John always kept his Harley spic-n-span. He also loved to play guitar and wood work. John built his daughters bed and many other things. He was a traveling tool box who was well prepared, very particular and would help his family out. John was an avid sports club shooter, gun collector and member of the Northern IL Rifle & Pistol Club.
Survived by his wife, Cindy; daughter, Courtney (Jared Simenson) Hodges of Kenosha, WI; mother, Lelia of Machesney Park; siblings, David Hodges of New York and Lisa Hodges of Loves Park; mother-in-law, Mary Flanigan; sister-in-law, Sue Flanigan; brother-in-law, Mike Flanigan; nieces & nephews, David Doyle, Joseph Doyle, Matthew Jones, Carter Hodges, Nicole Benavides, Reagan & Quinn Flanigan, Alex Osborne, and Mia Brumett; and several special friends. Predeceased by his father, Andrew; and sisters-in-law, Lisa Erf Hodges and Patricia Flanigan.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:45 am prior to the service.
