MONTROSE – Virginia “Ginger” Arrowood Lefler, 86, of Montrose, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at her home.
She was born Aug. 26, 1935, in East Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Herman C. and Mae Largent Arrowood.
On Jan. 24, 1954, Virginia was united in marriage with John Lefler in Sunnyland, Illinois. He preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2003.
Virginia was a faithful member of Living Waters Church in Keokuk.
She enjoyed going to flea markets, sewing and keeping her mind sharp by working puzzles. Virginia was a devoted member of her church and actively participated in church activities. Above all else, Virginia treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by six children, Michael H. Lefler (Margaret) of Hamilton, Illinois, Steven E. Lefler (Geni) of California, Brenda E. Lefler (Howard) of Keokuk, Beverly L. Brotherton (Jerry) of Montrose, Deborah K. Richardson (Brian) of Wayland, Mo., and John G. Lefler, Jr. (Beverly) of Burlington; 25 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother David Arrowood (Margaret) of Payson, Illinois.
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; one great granddaughter Saraphina; and one great-grandson Landon.
A Celebration of Life service will be officiating at 11 am Monday at her home, 3095 Mississippi River Road, Montrose, with the Rev. Larry Wallingford. Food and fellowship will follow.
