Mia Nicole Bigard, age 16, of Rutherfordton died Monday, October 17, 2022 at her residence. Mia was a homeschool student who loved art and music and aspired to be a cosmetologist.
Survivors include her mother and step-father Alex and Brady Ray of the home; father John Bigard of Maryville, Tennessee; brother Will Bigard and sister Samantha Bigard both of the home; step-siblings Ashley and Jeremy Bigard of Asheville; grandparents George and Catherine Mercado of Jersey City, New Jersey; Adrienne McClure of Mill Spring, North Carolina and Naomi Perich of Urbana, Illinois; aunts Crystal Denman, Amanda and Melissa Mercado, Sarah Kibbling, Kelly Gibbs, and Angela Daniels. She is also survived by her godparents, Brannon and Charity White of Spindale, North Carolina.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at eleven o’clock in the morning at The Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Herbert T. Burke VF and Deacon Andy Cilone will serve as celebrants. A vigil will be held in the Narthex of the church beginning at ten o’clock in the morning until the hour of mass. The Rite of Committal will follow the at The Alexander Cemetery.
