Long-time Rockford Town Planning Commission chairman Nola Cummings was honored by the guides on October 14th.
The recognition recognizes Cummings’ more than two decades of service to the commission, his staunch membership in the congregation, and his work as a local historian.
She has withdrawn from her city work.
“Nola Cummings is the epitome of the volunteer spirit that is alive and well in Rockford,” Mayor Carl Koella said in a statement. “In addition to serving with honors as Chair of the Rockford City Planning Commission for 24 years, she has served countless Rockford Elementary students as an exceptional teacher for more than 20 years.
“Generous volunteers like Nola make Rockford a wonderful place to live, and we are all grateful for their decades of dedicated service,” added Koella.
Cummings lives in Rockford with her husband Larry. She worked as a teacher in the Blount County School system for 23 years.
