Sr. Jolinda Snyder, OSF 1928 – 2022

Springfield, IL—Sister Jolinda Snyder, OSF, 94, of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, died on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 1:43 am at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, Illinois.

Sister Jolinda, the former Ruth Beatrice Snyder, was born in Huntingburg, Indiana, on January 9, 1928, the daughter of Sylvester and Adeline Spayd Snyder. She entered the Congregation on September 8, 1946 and professed her religious vows on June 13, 1949.

Sister Jolinda earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from St. Louis College of Pharmacy, St. Louis, MO, and attended a Theology Renewal Program at Marillac College in St. Louis, MO.

Sister Jolinda served as a pharmacist at various HSHS hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin. From 1976 to 1979, she served as the Provincial Secretary for the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, IL. After retiring from her pharmacy career, Sister was a receptionist at the Corporate Computer Center of Hospital Sisters Health System from 1990 to 2010.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Michael, LaVerne, Bernard, and Leo Snyder; and one sister, Mary Krodel.

She is survived by a sister, Helen R. Snyder of Dupont, WA; two nieces; several nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared her life with for 75 years.

Visitation: from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 24, 2022, at St. Francis Convent with a Wake Service at 6:00 pm

The Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Jim Isaacson, SJC on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 10:00 am in St. Clare of Assisi Adoration Chapel at St. Francis Convent.

Burial will be in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery.

The Sisters of St. Francis and the family of Sister Jolinda are being served by Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
