Feb. 25, 1933 – Sept. 23, 2021

GREENVILLE, Kentucky – James C. Ekstam, 88, of Greenville, Kentucky, passed away from this life after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Bloomington, Illinois. During the Korean War he served in the 82nd AAA Haywards Company, 2nd Army Division, as a rifleman and turret specialist. After his release he worked for the Kroger company as a butcher for 38 years.

He and his wife Violet Joy (Blake) Ekstam owned and operated a rental housing business for 25 years. He was a member of the 43 Bloomington, Illinois Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He was a former member of the VFW and the American Legion.

After his wife Joy died, he married Deborah Schulz and moved to Kentucky, farming south of Greenville.

He joined the Presbyterian Church in Greenville and served as an elder.

He leaves behind his wife, Deborah, and children: Jeff Ekstam (Bloomington, IL), Janet Gremillion (Charlotte, NC), Judy Williams (Mesa, AZ), and Greg Ekstam (Greenville, KY) and their families of six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

On Friday, October 1st, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the East Lawn Funeral Home will host a public tour with a service at 2:30 p.m.
